Trainer/Assessor
I have been with Macca’s since March 2021. My background in the industry started at a young age operating machinery on a family farm up north while still at school. There were always vehicles around us as my grandfather was a qualified mechanic who became a contractor.
School and I did not get on well, I always enjoyed learning new things, however struggled with reading and writing. When I left school, I did an apprenticeship working on Trucks and agricultural machinery. I had always had a love for operating machinery, and quickly moved to driving and operating heavy machinery. This included time in the Military, line haul driving, metro work, and some off-road machine operating.
In 1992 the opportunity arose to qualify as a driver trainer I knew I would struggle with the book work but jumped into it because I love helping others achieve, especially if they struggle with the classroom environment.
Since achieving the qualification, I have had my own business teaching people in cars and on motorcycles. I then spend 7 years with PassRite Driving Academy, where I ended up running the I endorsement course teaching people to become Instructors. In this role I also did truck and heavy machinery training and worked for the Military as a contractor.
I have continued to try and challenge myself to learn new things in the industry and am interested to see what happens with alternative power sources for vehicles.
My key passion remains seeing others achieve in the industry.
