Class 1 Learner Licence Course – Overseas Conversion

Course Pre-requisites
Trainee must hold a Class 1 equivalent overseas licence.
Trainee must have two forms of photo ID eg. overseas licence and passport.
Meet at VTNZ for conversion application
A 1-2 hour appointment meeting our trainer at VTNZ to lodge conversion application and book Class 1 theory test.
Trainee will receive a study pack to prepare them for Day 2 theory training, generally booked for 3-4 days after Day 1 to allow at home study time.
Day 2
Theory training
This learner Licence course is designed to assist those who are wanting to pass their class 1 learner licence theory test to convert to a New Zealand Class 1 licence. This course covers road code study questions and online practice tests.
Our instructors will help candidates better understand and simplify the questions so answering and retaining the information becomes a much smoother process when sitting the test.

Class 1 Full Overseas Conversion Licence

Course Pre-requisites
Trainee has sat the Class 1 theory test to convert their overseas licence and will now have a Class 1 NZ Driver Licence with conditions stating they must be accompanied by a supervisor at all times.
To have that condition removed the trainee must sit a practical test at VTNZ.
Course Details
Prior to the course we will book a time for your practical assessment at VTNZ – usually after lunch on the chosen day of training.
You will receive 2 hours quality driver training with one of our experience instructors. Our trainer will accompany you to VTNZ for your practical assessment.
Notes: VTNZ fees are not included in the course cost. Additional driver training, if required, is charged at $172.50* per hour.

Once the trainee has passed their theory test they are issued a New Zealand drivers licence in the class they have converted to. This licence has conditions on it stating they must be accompanied by a supervisor at all times – all classes.

Unit Standard 24089– Demonstrate Knowledge of Fatigue Management, Work Time, and Driver Logbook Requirements – Level 3 with 5 credits.
Day 2
THEORY ASSESSMENT
Cass 2 – Unit Standard 17574– Operate a Rigid Vehicle for a Full Class 2 Driver Licence – Level 3 with 7 credits.
Our trainer will assist with the paperwork required to apply for exemption to remove the conditions on the licence so the trainee is able to drive without a supervisor. Courier packs and form are included and we will send off the application to NZTA once the trainee has completed the practical assessment on day 3.
Day 3
PRACTICAL ASSESSMENT
Prior to sitting the practical assessment the trainee will receive 1 1/2 hours of driver training in a class 2 vehicle. And will also receive a drivers logbook to keep.
1 1/2 hour practical assessment will follow upon completion of the driver training.
