Course Details
Street Talk defensive driving courses have been specially designed by NZ Transport Agency to meet the needs of young drivers in NZ. Our courses teach defensive driving skills that will help both Learner and Restricted drivers pass the new Driving Tests.
This course is designed to help you identify and avoid or handle potential hazards you may encounter while driving.
We teach skills that can help reduce the likelihood of you being involved in a crash, such as eye scanning while driving, hazard detection and risk management.
Passing an approved advanced driving course can:
- Reduce the minimum age for a full car licence (from 18 years to 17 1/2 years), and
- reduce the time you need to stay on a restricted car licence (by either three to six months depending o your age).
Any licence holders can do this course which includes 4 interactive sessions of 2 hours in the classroom, plus up to an hour on-road practical session.
Course duration is over 2 weeks for the classroom sessions – 2 nights per week of 2 hours each. Then the practical session follows at the end at a time arranged to suit both parties.
