Course Pre-requisites
Trainee must hold a Class 5 NZ Learner licence (5L)
Must have completed Unit Standard 24089 with in the last 12 months
Course cost: $1794*
Duration: 2 Days
1 ½ Hours Driver Training Included
Day 1
Theory
Unit Standard 17577 – Operate a Rigid Vehicle for a Full Class 5 Driver Licence – Level 3 with 7 credits. Then a one-hour practical assessment will follow upon completion of the theory training.
Day 2
Driver training & practical assessment
You will received 1 ½ hours driver training. Then a 1 ½ hour practical assessment will follow.
Notes: All Unit Standards incorporate an Activity Booklet which must be completed on the day of training. Pre-course study materials for each Unit Standard are given to assist with candidate pre-knowledge.
After successful completion of both theory and practical assessments an NZTA Licence Endorsement Certificate is issued which must be produced to any VTNZ Agency for licence registering. VTNZ fee is not included.
All unit standards completed will be registered and recorded with NZQA and placed on personal Records of Achievements.

THEORY ASSESSMENT
Unit Standard 24089 – Demonstrate Knowledge of Fatigue Management, Work Time, and Driver Logbook Requirements – Level 3 with 5 credits.
Day 2
THEORY
Unit Standard 17577 – Operate a Rigid Vehicle for a Full Class 5 Driver Licence – Level 3 with 7 credits.
Day 3
DRIVER TRAINING & PRACTICAL ASSESSMENT
You will received 1 ½ hours driver training. Then a 1 ½ hour practical assessment will follow.

Class 5 Driver Training
Course cost: $264*
Duration: 1 Hour
Driver training also consists of vehicle pre-checks, vehicle document checks, under hood inspections, external checks, electrical checks brakes and steering.
On road driver training consists of gear changing, brake control, intersection approaches using gears and brakes, search and scanning techniques, following distances, steering control and hand positions, reversing to a 90 degree At the completion of driver training your trainer will brief you on your performance and determine if more driver training is needed.
If further driver training is required, your trainer will assist you to book an appropriate day and time.

Class 5 Learner Licence
Course Pre-requisites
Trainee must have held a full class 4 driver licence for the last 3 months if over 25 years of age or 6 months if under 25 years of age.
Completed a transport medical on a DL9 form from your doctor in the last 5 years

Course Details
This learner Licence course is designed to assist those who are wanting to gain their class 5 learner licence. This course covers road code study questions and online practice tests. Please note this does not include the actual test at the licencing agency. Our instructors will help you better understand and simplify the questions so answering and retaining the information becomes a much smoother process when sitting the test.
This is a great first step into gaining your first heavy vehicle licence and becoming a full class 5 driver.
At completion of this course the individual will still need to obtain their 5L from their nearest licencing agency.
NOTE: VTNZ fee is not included. At completion of training the trainer can accompany the trainee to VTNZ to sit their 5L test if required at an additional cost of $100 + GST.
